life is not allowing me to blog

for a plethora of reasons.
which i will not submit you to suffer through. just kidding they are not so terrible, but just no time and not much motivation. so this is a blah post, to remind me of a blah day unfortunately. it's one of those days where i just want to crawl back into bed, throw the covers over my head and disappear for a moment. but tomorrow will be better just get me there already.

happy hump day, the week is half way over. hooray!

p.s. i love this photo, it's titled: lost in thought

story time

despite my efforts in trying to welcome a lovely beginning to yet another week, i failed mis.uh.rably i tell you. it was an awfully-wrotten-no-good-terrible-day. it went a little bit like this.

for one i was late, everywhere and all the day long. sometimes i think late is my middle name because regardless of how hard i try to leave early i never can make it on time. i wish someone secretly would reset the clocks in our home just 10 little minutes earlier with out me knowing. then i would have to be on time. how does that sound jake?

besides being late i broke the thumb drive that was in my computer by sliding it into my computer case without looking. who does that? oh yes, me that would be me over here! not only was i thumb driveless, i forgot to transfer the very important files that were on the memory stick to my computer, and i had already shredded the very important papers. still trying to solve this one.

humiliating enough that i shouldn't even repeat, i lost my phone yesterday, for hours. but i found her, found her indeed. where may you ask? oh just in my wallet! i put it there to be savvy and not have fifty things in my hands when i went to grab lunch. but of course lost my mind and couldn't remember where i put it. being genius as i am i knew i could turn my car on to see if the blue tooth worked, surely it did so i deliberately tore the car apart in every which way and form until i decided that if i needed to use my phone i would just call from the car. it was the biggest pain in the rear end but i did it, until i found it and then laughed a little to myself when i found it.

yet amongst all of this i was able to visit my lash gal/therapist sophie, who even escorted me to the bathroom with my eyes closed. for those of you who don't know, you can't open your eyes while taped closed during a lash session/therapy session. i meekly whispered to sophie that i couldn't hold it any longer so she held my hand like a two year old and walked me all the way to the toilet and then came back in to assist me while i attempted to wash my hands. we had a good laugh and i think i'll keep my vision as long as i can, so grateful i can see.

just when i though the awfully-wrotten-no-good-terrible-day would never end it got so much better. and i feel silly for thinking it was so terrible in the first place.

i got to take my little pup to play at her favorite park (really it's mine because its the closest) and we met some cute little friends who decided that they wanted to throw the ball the entire time for lucy and that is just heaven for me.

then the husband turned the whole day around and took me on a little fhe outing to barnes and noble. one of my most favorite things ever, like ever ever. he is cute and i don't say that enough, sorry to get all married on you. anyways, we read and made ourselves feel smart and then spent a whopping fifty dollars on books, but i'm ok if we spend lots of money on books.

on top of that we went out to eat which is always a happy thing especially given the circumstance of the day. we even got to eat outside which made my meal that much better, except for me forgetting to ask for shredded lettuce. and then to top it off we got to talk with friends and have a lovely conversation with them. so the day actually ended with a happily ever after. thank heavens. the end.

tis the season

once thanksgiving and jake's birthday pass, we officially begin holiday festivities.
we had a lovely weekend.
(more on that later)

i love the holidays.
we've decked the halls here.
tree is up.
garlands hung.
crafts completed.
glitter galore.
candy jars filled.
wreaths hung.
santa's displayed.
nutcrackers presented.
it's feeling so cozy.
i don't know what we will ever do when we have to take them down.

if you are still looking for ideas try:
these they turned out beautiful. these, so cost friendly.
or this, still in the process.

anxiously anticipating:
time with family and loved ones.
get togethers with friends.
advents.
giving.
spending time with husband,
with no school.
snow.
skiing.
sledding.
the list is endless.

traditions started from last year to continue:
gingerbread decorating.
first presidency devotional.
(it was so wonderful, find here)
attending the nutcracker.
a new nutcracker for our collection.
christmas eve skiing.
christmas street.
temple square lights.
and more to add!

for last years holidays check out this, and this.

what do you love?
what are you anxiously anticipating?
and what traditions do you have?

Monday, November 14

today:

i am thankful.
i love thanksgiving and being reminded of the many things we get to be thankful for.
we truly are so blessed.
there are always going to be wants, desires, and wishes in our lives but we are most blessed when we remember what we are already have.
there is always always always something to be thankful for.

it's my goal to take time each day to remind myself how blessed and enriched my life is already.
i have a "grateful journal" and each page is numbered 1-10 to write at least 10 things i'm thankful for.
you should make your own, it makes life sweeter when we give thanks.

here are just a couple i wrote yesterday:
husband
employment
dreams
visits from friends far away
upcoming holidays to see family
books
comfort i receive from believing this

Tuesday, November 1

so after all:

i took a little break from blogging.
not because of dear little html but because we were too busy enjoying halloween festivities.

i'm so excited to post pictures from our weekend.
this halloween had to have been one of the best we've had yet.
after many hours of making costumes, we turned out a success.
(i realized last night that i've completely created 5 of my costumes in the last 6 years. i'm proud)

we have wonderful family and friends and are really so lucky.

we are welcoming november with open arms.
the beginning of the holidays.
(and taking our last glances at the gorgeous fall leaves around here. it's about to get coldy!)

loving november for some of these reasons:
colder weather
snow and skiing
continued pumpkin flavor enjoyment
family
turkey dinners
and continually being reminded of how blessed we are.

Tuesday, October 25

a little note i wore 2 years ago today. crazy how the time flies but comforting how some things never change.

MLH: i'd be lying if i said i didn't miss you, didn't think of you every day, and didn't wish you were still here! i can't believe its been so long since we've been together but when i think of it, i remember it like it were yesterday. i went and visited your grave earlier this week, you give me extra strength on those days that i can't quite do it myself. i miss our talks, your example, and your infinite love. not only the love you gave me but to all of those lives you touched. you were an example to all of us and you are still in each of our hearts. i know its no coincidence that i've thought about you more then normal especially at this time when all of our friends are spread across the world, some coming home, and some just leaving. but no matter where we all go i know that we have a rare bond that has come from you and the person you were in our lives, and the experience of your passing away that you left with us. i'll never forget that week mads, it was life changing and of course the selfish part of me wishes that you were still here, i know you are too good to be down here and were needed for especial responsibilities where you are. i still look back on those good times, the notebook that we passed back and forth daily, ABE, new years, bedroom chats, love notes, nicknames, italian sodas, rice parties, and just the essence of you i miss terribly. i love when i catch glimpses of you and your example in our friends, and when i see their accomplishments i know much of them have to do with the person you were in each of our lives. it gives me comfort to know that no matter where we go around the world or who we meet and what we do, we have a deep rooted bond that comes from you. thank you for being you and for changing me in the amount of time that i knew you. you were always so mature in your actions and i aspire to be more like you each day. i hope that your big 21 (now 23) was everything and more that you thought it would be! i love to think about what you would be doing in your life if you were here and try to mimic my life to parallel it. it has helped me through some of those tough days and the life changing decisions that have to made. mads we are getting so old! when did we grow up?? i can't wait to see what is to come in this crazy thing we call life, and will always keep you in my heart!
i miss you and love you and wish you a happy happy birthday! x's and o's

words to love.

i love when i find words to live by.
i love both of these and while i was at work i found myself writing them down.

hopefully we all have happiness in our life that makes today feel special, like it will never feel again.
and let's all hope to become a person who makes others happy just by being alive.

we had a lovely weekend in denver i will catch up on that later.
hope you had a lovely weekend as well.
here is another favorite i just found:

10 ways to love.

listen without interrupting
speak without accusing.
give without sparing
pray without ceasing.
answer without arguing.
share without pretending.
enjoy without complaint.
trust without wavering.
forgive without punishing.
promise without forgetting.

thursday thoughts

do you:
ever have those days where your mind is just spinning with thoughts?
i do.

usually on thursdays, when the week has just about passed and i'm letting myself think of the weekend.
this weekend in particular.

here are some of my thoughts today:

there are 2 weekends a year where we get to stay at home and listen to inspired words and actually be in our "comfy's" all day sunday and not need an excuse.
ohh conference weekend. i love.
(to find more about what we believe go here)

1. thinking about my love for tights, colored tights in particular. you must try them this fall.
i also love.
(did you know we are still in the high 80's in sl? i never thought i'd be asking but i am, bring on the cold!)

2. stacked rings. i loove rings.

3. this recipe is a nutella/greek yogurt fruit dip yum.
(go here)

4. and this recipe which i've been missing and stumbled across. it is divine. try it!
(go here)

lake powell in just 8 more days.
thats enough to distract me all day.

some other thoughts:
i really love my job, and i'm learning more then i ever imagined.
i am so grateful for salt lake, didn't think i would ever come to say that.
i miss friends who live far away.
i'm so happy to have technology to talk to friends who are far away.

and just a little reminder for myself and anyone else:

Wednesday, September 28

dear: tay tay

today has been a good day. in fact a very good day.
completed my second day of work, success.
was able to finally get my hairs did. thanks claire cuts.
caught up with some old friends. much needed.
took a cat nap. also much needed.
and now am preparing for some dear taylor swift with my husband.
good day.

last time i was able to see her perform was also a pretty amazing day. i was on study abroad in london, which made the experience that much better. check it out here.
it's left me with a lot of reminiscing down memory lane today. i dream of returning, very very soon. perhaps 2012 olympics?

i love tay tay. sometimes i pretend she writes her song for my life.
(one time i swear she really did)

Thursday, September 22

i will tell you...

that these are some of the things you will see in our house for
halloween...

(along with lots and lots of candy corns and pumpkins. i love the pumpkins most, what is your pick?)

f you can't tell i've been a little excited for this holiday. i love the decor almost as much as christmas. i even started making our decorations weeks ago and have asked jake more then once if it would be ok if i started to put them up.
he objected. but...only 8 more days!

i will also tell you that last night i saw my future flash before my eyes a little bit. we are nannying some more darling kiddos and this was what i saw: my cute husband studying (well trying to) so hard with two little ones just waiting for him to be done so he could play! i just have a feeling that in several years down the road this will be our future while jake is in dental school. i secretly loved it.
