it's been a while

and when i say a while, i mean three weeks. and sadly, it's taken a lot of silly little encouragement from myself to actually get back into posting. not because i don't enjoy it, because i do. but my list of things i've forgotten to document have began to overwhelm me. i'm being completely silly but i'm jumping back in, full force.

so for tomorrow i'll give a very picturesque update of our life as of lately. the last three weeks have consisted of craziness, real craziness. summertime is treating us well over here and it's barely june. we just pulled in last night after a short trip to husbands other true love: lake powell and it was a treat. this photo really doesn't do justice of how beautiful it was neither does this photo make being back in the "grind" much easier. so for now long live summertime. because what's not to love?

a glimpse

just a couple photos from our adventure.
(still needing to sort through the 457 i took, but sorting emails for work and laundry at home come first)

i believe that get aways are a must for healthy living, at least for my personal sake.
i come back energized yet exhausted.
overwhelmed yet ready to take on the world.
i love the energy of nyc, it always gives me the desire to do more.
as if i don't have enough on my plate.
that's another post in itself.

but i do have to say that seeing the mr.was a happy reunion.
you may laugh, but it was the longest we've spent apart in over two years.

since being married we've only spent one night at a time apart.
so i anxiously waited for him to return from his get.a.way. to LP
it was fireworks all over again,
but i'll spare you the details.

happy tuesday, short weeks are always a delight.

two things that have nothing to do with another but i'll tell you anyways

oh my heck!
this week is slipping out of my hands.
i don't know where the time has gone from yesterday morning until now and i feel as though i'm going to find myself in a melt down in a few hours.

i have only a bajillion things to get done before my sissy club and i leave for a new york adventure with our mama.
i get to go to new york to see my besties with besties, what could be better?
it's come so quickly, and now if i could only grant myself an extra five hours before midnight this could all go smooth.
so i have no time, i feel like the bunny in alice in wonderland. isn't' it the bunny in that movie?
i'm late, I'm late for a very important date, no time to waste...

so i'm off to get a pile of to dos done before i go, which i can already tell is not going to happen.

in the meantime check out this event that i helped put together for the weekend. i know, lame i won't be there but you should most definitely go if you are around. these gals are amaze and i'm so happy to be part of something so great, it's going to be funnnn i'm telling you really fun. so go for me and let me knowhow it all goes. you will not regret it so go spread some shine.

next time i'm on here i'll be in the city!

rain day

rainy days are secretly a favorite of mine. it's an excuse to be a little lazy and cozy up in the house. perhaps pop a favorite flick in, or head to the theaters for a new show. oversized sweaters and comfy blankets. it doesn't hurt that i got to work from home today and that the husband doesn't' have school. yay for friday and for the rain. the smell of the rain, as i've said before is my absolute favorite.

happy friday.

life's one big picnic

in the summertime when the weather is nice. and when the weather is nice we like to go on picnics with our friends. these fun friends ran, yes they are fit and ran over to our house, and then we went to the local grocer and skipped off to the park with lucy girl for a picnic. i wanna kiss the sun for being so lovely to us lately. it just makes the days sweeter and a little more pleasant.

these last few days we celebrated our moms this weekend and feel beyond blessed to have such great ones. my little (big) brother turned the big eighteen this weekend, we ate lots of yummy food basically the entire weekend long, attended a hoppin wedding reception, "showered" one of favorite engaged couples, aaaand got play with our high school friends for a night. it was a significantly busy but delightful weekend for us. at one point i felt overwhelmed with how social we had been. that's what happens when you are old and married and don't see a social seen too often.

on another note, we are back in the grind. the husband starts school today so his two week summer break has come to an end. but we plan on pretending we still get a summer to play, we'll figure something out between work, school, work, and our other responsibilities. i'm not going to pretend that we won't play, because we will. i think that having grown up responsibilities will make us appreciate our time off, or so we hope!

cinco.de.mayo.

we celebrated the fifth of may, with these babes. don't you wish you had a fiesta for cinco de mayo too? we ate our little hearts out and really heated up the festivities. cafe rio salads, nacho libre, uno, and required dress ups. i think jake was fearful that i would start wearing my costume on a daily basis. don't worry i will not, at least not now, you never know what i may do when i'm a looney madre. spanish because it is cinco de mayo.

somehow glittery grey sweaters became "mexico" clothes to lucy and we may have pretended that hawaiian hats work too. it's an international festivity for all countries in our book. and somehow we went from two kids to about ten, but we felt pretty cool that everyone wanted to come to our party. husbands homemade churros were quite the hit, and i think i may have found a new guilty obsession: pina coladas. i mean i knew i loved them, but having them accessible at all times including late in the night (early in the a.m.) is maybe not best. but i won't decide that now.

oh my sugar eyes surprise

in all the many things that bring people together, there is nothing in this world that does it like good food. oh and do i love food, especially my sweets! and the lovelies combo is made when you pair the best of people with the most delectable food.

this weekend was no exception in that matter.

it was one of those weekends where i had the phrases this is a good day and i'm the luckiest running through my mind on repeat.

consisting of only the best people. people that i hold so dearly to my heart. besties who live far away and cousins who are all grown up. i had the giggles so badly i could hardly breathe. if there is one thing that i've learned, especially since being married, it is how lucky i am to have the most amazing people enrich my life.

at the end of the weekend it was so refreshing to look back on the past few days and smile because it was a good weekend, it truly was. now back to reality, sigh.

Friday, April 27

i'm so happy i could make up a little song for you about how happy i am

its friday its friday and a friday's a happy day. la de da de da de da de da.

that is the tune i'm singing today even though today is a little gloomy.  the husband man took his big chemistry final today which means i get fifty percent of him back, the other fifty comes back on tuesday. he is a smartie pants and is acing his test, which i'm not the least bit surprised.

last night we left the windows open to listen to the rain and it just smelled like summer. warm thunderstorms may be one of my favorite things. when i was growing up my little sister and i would take blankets and sit on our front porch and watch the thunderstorms, for hours.

and today  i get to see a favorite friend of mine, who is preggers and i can't wait to see her baby bump. and we may just go see the lucky one, again but i'll take a little zac efron any day. other plans include some cousin time, a wedding, probably the parkp, and celebrating because it's the weekend.

amaze

do you want to know what is amazing to me lately
well i'm going to tell you regardless.

diet coke fountain machine at work. it's free
how happy the pandora app is making me as of late. best invention, ever.
an orchid that keeps spring apparent in my mind all day long, even when spring decides its time to snow.
crazy utah weather.
these classes that are kicking my derriere in shape, literally.
that we are the boss of ourselves, and that we really can do whatever we put our mind to.
so do it!
that babies are created inside bodies like mine, it really amazes me.
but don't you fret, i am not preggers.

happy friday and happy easter!
off to costco for an afternoon date with the husband, some girl time, some down time, and an easter egg hunt or two.
see you in a few!

weekend highlights

husband attending a bachelor party so naturally i decided to hang out with our friends regardless that i would be the only loner of the group.

thanks to husband going to bachelor party i got to go to a yummy restaurant but our waitress i think felt bad for me. "poor girl, only single one in the group, all her friends are married" no lady, i just like my friends and my husband wanted to go be a boy for the night. it's fine.

getting the giggles over and over again with husband and friends.

husband asking me to put "hydrator" on his nails. you see he got jealous the other day while i was manicuring my nails. so we shared and i put it on his nails too...now he thinks he is a girl.

going to the beauty supply store and buying light hold hairspray. girl at register tells me that they now have a firmer hold spray and i have to awkwardly and unfortunately admit that it is actually for my husband. starting to see a pattern here aren't we?

rearranging our room not once, not twice, but three times in one weekend. thank heavens i have a husband who just sighs and rolls his eyes but still puts up with my crazy ideas. i think we finally found a winner.

one of my four year olds telling me that when he grows up he wants to be a "dishwasher fixer" just like his dad. it's ok, his dad is really a lawyer but i'm glad he does handiwork around the house too. another one of my four year olds announcing, "my dad is really really almost bald" another one, "my dad is almost bald too and he is sad." poor dads.

stopping by red mango by myself on satruday because i was famished and it was the only thing in sight next to arby's and i didn't think before noon was good for arby's food. it's ok i like to take lots of outings a alone. another pattern we are starting to see.

dancing again, even though i was teaching. i miss dancing. had the best time with a best friend teaching the darling hh officers dance. also, getting to catch up with three other best friends through out the weekend. made my entire week.

our weekend in photos

this is what your weekend looks like when your husband gets surgery:
our weekend included lots of yummy dinners and treats.
one bored puppy, sick of her "person" being in bed.
sleeping in and snuggling. husband is now calling it "nuggles"
i tell him it sounds like harry potter.
good books, delightful chats, and lovely visitors.

i'm not complaining.
but we are hoping for a speedy recovery.

Tuesday, February 21

he had to push me

out the door this morning, quite literally.
the four day weekend was too good to be true. i've decided that going back to work on a tuesday is much worse then a regular monday after having the day off. how did you all spend your holiday? ours consisted of:

taking our pup to the dog wash. this same dog was. the one where you wash them yourself, it's supposed to be a great deal. that is if you have a well behaved-not afraid of loud noises dog, which we do not have. bless her heart. the result: husband and i leaving smelling like wet dog and needing our own wash, one battle wound on my chest from a ravenous claw, more lucy hair in my head then my own, mortified that i trimmed my dogs bottom hairs (tmi? yes, probably), and lastly one scrumptious smelling yet tortured lucy. oh i just can't wait to return.

grocery shopping, which is always a treat. did you know smith's is giving double points until march? great news. this means gas points, which means less mullah on gas, and more money for fun things like date nights and cruise clothes. grocery shopping also included cleaning out the fridge and i mean who doesn't love that on a day off? yikes.

we also clean our humble abode, decided to be in high school again and attend the ehs bball game, ate yummy red mango and sat by the fire, discovered the game scrammble-i'm setting records low scores, got our sweat on (well i did, husband hasn't been doing much moving due to the knee injury), and had some friends over for good food (trial recipe) and great company. it was lovely though it wasn't glamourous, but much needed for all.

stella and lucy letters

remember this cutie?
well we were able to spend part of our weekend with the little ones.

let me tell you, it was quite the experience.
something kicked in...
must be the holidays

but we were left with lots of laughs.
the make your stomach hurt after kind.
stella decided that nutella looked best when smeared all over your face.
boy was this fun to get off.
i blame the mr. for this little nightmare.
 lucy wanted long hair.
this was her fix.
she decided to cut her hair to be "luke the boy" a few months ago
and now she says she is drinking extra milk so it will grow
"pretty and long"
(because duh, milk makes your hair grow not just strong bones right?)
and this was what i walked into first thing in the morning.
bright and early.
(i wish i had the same desire to put make up on at 7 am)
lucy somehow came out with
vampire fangs and really played into the part all day.

p.s. stella is the true poster child for
"all i want for christmas"
she is missing not 2 front teeth...
but five.

we love these girls too much.

last game of the season

we kind of can't believe that the regular season of football is over.
this means that winter really is just around the corner.
luckily we have so many things to look forward to!
(for one, it's birthday week for husband!)

cook family took a family xmas card picture before the game on the field.
it was fun to be down there during the excitement and to say hello to some of jake's old fb buddies.

Monday, November 7

this weekend:

we took a last minute trip to bear lake.
the crew was great, new friends made, and many memories.

thanks to sean and the swenson family for a lovely weekend.
it was so nice to get some r&r with the husband.

Wednesday, November 2

black.out

part of our halloween festivities included the utes blackout game.
it was cold.
so don't judge my "egg" head.
the name husband coined for me.

i love him

thank heavens we won.
we love the utes always but were getting a little discouraged.

Tuesday, November 1

so after all:

i took a little break from blogging.
not because of dear little html but because we were too busy enjoying halloween festivities.

i'm so excited to post pictures from our weekend.
this halloween had to have been one of the best we've had yet.
after many hours of making costumes, we turned out a success.
(i realized last night that i've completely created 5 of my costumes in the last 6 years. i'm proud)

we have wonderful family and friends and are really so lucky.

we are welcoming november with open arms.
the beginning of the holidays.
(and taking our last glances at the gorgeous fall leaves around here. it's about to get coldy!)

loving november for some of these reasons:
colder weather
snow and skiing
continued pumpkin flavor enjoyment
family
turkey dinners
and continually being reminded of how blessed we are.

dirty joe's

happy monday lovers!
hope your weekend was enjoyable.
ours was rather eventful.

we took the pup to "dirty joe's" dog wash.
yes dog wash, like a car wash.
(they provide the supplies, you do the work)

miss lucy was a pretty good sport considering it was her first time.
let's just say there were lots of giggles and wrestling on our part.
splashing on her part.
but i will say she is one clean puppy.
(one clean giant puppy)

thanks dirty joe's!
we will definitely be back.
