it's been two

time flies, it does.
but then again when people ask me if i feel like it's been two years i feel like i don't remember life not being married.
but it just gets sweeter with time.

happy anniversary to you husband.
i love you, i do.

it's been a while

and when i say a while, i mean three weeks. and sadly, it's taken a lot of silly little encouragement from myself to actually get back into posting. not because i don't enjoy it, because i do. but my list of things i've forgotten to document have began to overwhelm me. i'm being completely silly but i'm jumping back in, full force.

so for tomorrow i'll give a very picturesque update of our life as of lately. the last three weeks have consisted of craziness, real craziness. summertime is treating us well over here and it's barely june. we just pulled in last night after a short trip to husbands other true love: lake powell and it was a treat. this photo really doesn't do justice of how beautiful it was neither does this photo make being back in the "grind" much easier. so for now long live summertime. because what's not to love?

take me out to the ball game

yesterday we celebrated the beginning of summer. you see the mr. has been out of school for about a week, but oh so sadly will be beginning yet another semester on monday. i'm proud of that man i tell you, i know he is duhhreading the fact that he will be in school during summertime but he is being quite pleasant about it. so back to summer, we celebrated with class and style with baseball and ice cream and somewhere in there was a very mustachey mustache. welcome to may in our family ladies and gents.

such is the love i have for my husband that i have agreed to attend baseball games and allow hairy faces, oh the grandeur. when the mr. asked if ice cream was necessary, i responded politely with a firm yes and gallivanted off to buy my $5.75 cone, in which i could purchase two gallons of ice cream at the store. but its all it the celebration. ice cream at a ball game for me is about as necessary as mustaches for the husband in may. tomato, tomatah.

we had a grand old time, take me out to the ball game at seventh inning stretch and all. oh and they won, yes they won in the very last moment of the ninth inning. happy summer husband.

cinco.de.mayo.

we celebrated the fifth of may, with these babes. don't you wish you had a fiesta for cinco de mayo too? we ate our little hearts out and really heated up the festivities. cafe rio salads, nacho libre, uno, and required dress ups. i think jake was fearful that i would start wearing my costume on a daily basis. don't worry i will not, at least not now, you never know what i may do when i'm a looney madre. spanish because it is cinco de mayo.

somehow glittery grey sweaters became "mexico" clothes to lucy and we may have pretended that hawaiian hats work too. it's an international festivity for all countries in our book. and somehow we went from two kids to about ten, but we felt pretty cool that everyone wanted to come to our party. husbands homemade churros were quite the hit, and i think i may have found a new guilty obsession: pina coladas. i mean i knew i loved them, but having them accessible at all times including late in the night (early in the a.m.) is maybe not best. but i won't decide that now.

this is why i am in love...

last night, husband taught me about the economy and the stock market.
something (in my personal opinion) which could compete to be the most boring topic, ever.
but nothing was more darling then watching my cute husband teach me about hedge funds and stocks.
because of course a girl like me should really know her terminology

i'm still so confused, and i don't know if i ever will not be
but while i was ever so bored listening to him tell me about earning reports
i couldn't help but to smile because i loved that he thought it would be important for me to know
so while he talked my ear off i realized that

i am in love....
with a hedge fund, stock loving, economy fascinated man who wants to be a dentist
yes, yes i am.

story time

despite my efforts in trying to welcome a lovely beginning to yet another week, i failed mis.uh.rably i tell you. it was an awfully-wrotten-no-good-terrible-day. it went a little bit like this.

for one i was late, everywhere and all the day long. sometimes i think late is my middle name because regardless of how hard i try to leave early i never can make it on time. i wish someone secretly would reset the clocks in our home just 10 little minutes earlier with out me knowing. then i would have to be on time. how does that sound jake?

besides being late i broke the thumb drive that was in my computer by sliding it into my computer case without looking. who does that? oh yes, me that would be me over here! not only was i thumb driveless, i forgot to transfer the very important files that were on the memory stick to my computer, and i had already shredded the very important papers. still trying to solve this one.

humiliating enough that i shouldn't even repeat, i lost my phone yesterday, for hours. but i found her, found her indeed. where may you ask? oh just in my wallet! i put it there to be savvy and not have fifty things in my hands when i went to grab lunch. but of course lost my mind and couldn't remember where i put it. being genius as i am i knew i could turn my car on to see if the blue tooth worked, surely it did so i deliberately tore the car apart in every which way and form until i decided that if i needed to use my phone i would just call from the car. it was the biggest pain in the rear end but i did it, until i found it and then laughed a little to myself when i found it.

yet amongst all of this i was able to visit my lash gal/therapist sophie, who even escorted me to the bathroom with my eyes closed. for those of you who don't know, you can't open your eyes while taped closed during a lash session/therapy session. i meekly whispered to sophie that i couldn't hold it any longer so she held my hand like a two year old and walked me all the way to the toilet and then came back in to assist me while i attempted to wash my hands. we had a good laugh and i think i'll keep my vision as long as i can, so grateful i can see.

just when i though the awfully-wrotten-no-good-terrible-day would never end it got so much better. and i feel silly for thinking it was so terrible in the first place.

i got to take my little pup to play at her favorite park (really it's mine because its the closest) and we met some cute little friends who decided that they wanted to throw the ball the entire time for lucy and that is just heaven for me.

then the husband turned the whole day around and took me on a little fhe outing to barnes and noble. one of my most favorite things ever, like ever ever. he is cute and i don't say that enough, sorry to get all married on you. anyways, we read and made ourselves feel smart and then spent a whopping fifty dollars on books, but i'm ok if we spend lots of money on books.

on top of that we went out to eat which is always a happy thing especially given the circumstance of the day. we even got to eat outside which made my meal that much better, except for me forgetting to ask for shredded lettuce. and then to top it off we got to talk with friends and have a lovely conversation with them. so the day actually ended with a happily ever after. thank heavens. the end.

a dog, a bone, and a birthday party

lucy got to attend her first ever birthday party for her friend nora. she loved it, and we loved it. she loved it because she had non stop friends for two hours, we loved it because she had non stop friends for two hours too. i was a proud puppy mama too because she played oh so nicely with the kiddos, which was a sigh of relief in the long run. she also tried to steal nora's birthday present but we made her give it back, still working on sharing, and dropping, and staying, and all those other important things.

emmy got pee'd on by a dog fire hydrant style, and didn't even realize it and the husband and i showed up wearing matching shoes so naturally we took a picture to show you. it was a successful party and we had the best time. thanks to the jones' and nora for having a birthday.

hello

the husband sent me this while laying in bed next to me.
from our "family" email address that he insisted on making for us, because we are a little family and we need one now. just a little
"hello"
this is why i married him, so i could giggle all my days at his silliness and his love notes.

p.s. send a little "hello" and tell someone you love them just because.

a little disney

from my iPhone
i'm still working on cruise photos
as you can see husband is rare to smile a regular smile, its a happy day when i get one normal photo.
as you can also see, he was in a wheelchair happy day for him, not happy day for my patience and arms.
as you can see we loved glasses this day-any kind, sunglasses to star trek specs we loved them.
and my i also ad that husband was a chicken and opted out not to go on tower of terror, little baby, but you can see that i was sreaming like a baby the entire time.
oh and as you can see we love disneyland, especially me.
it will forever be:
"the happiest place on earth"

luck

do you consider yourself a lucky one?

some say i'm lucky
like this friend of mine.
(it's been a running joke for years)

perhaps it's the irish in me
that is what my mother would say.
my dad would say:
it's being in the right place at the right time,
others might just laugh.

there have been times where i've felt a little lucky.
like finding a .twenty.dollar bill on the sidewalk and marrying husband.

and then there is husband, who is just down right lucky.
always
 it's kind of annoying really.
he doesn't have to think too hard about things and then next thing you know it he's a pro
 one of his swooning traits.
(i hope our babes get that from him)

but i'm feeling lucky lately.
taking some chances and seeing where i end up.
after all march is nearly over.

p.s. can you tell i was in love with the sunsets this weekend. i don't even have pictures to justify.
and i always die when i see husband in his "fancies" a.k.a. church clothes oh me oh my!

Monday, March 19

and we're back!

and we had so much fun, too much fun.

we ate our heads off, laughed till our bellies hurt
soaked up the sun, scootered in the streets of mexico
la la loved the ocean, spent a little time at the happiest place on earth
played adult married truth or dare, hot tubbed till we were raisins
and thanked our many blessings for time together.
(and great friends)

now it's back to reality,
i almost forgot how to make my own bed this morning, ah vacation
my beach bum days are over for a while. husband thinks i'm silly for how slow i get back
into the "groove" of things.

so for now i'll just do my best at it.
sigh, i've got a mountain of laundry staring back at me.

weekend highlights

husband attending a bachelor party so naturally i decided to hang out with our friends regardless that i would be the only loner of the group.

thanks to husband going to bachelor party i got to go to a yummy restaurant but our waitress i think felt bad for me. "poor girl, only single one in the group, all her friends are married" no lady, i just like my friends and my husband wanted to go be a boy for the night. it's fine.

getting the giggles over and over again with husband and friends.

husband asking me to put "hydrator" on his nails. you see he got jealous the other day while i was manicuring my nails. so we shared and i put it on his nails too...now he thinks he is a girl.

going to the beauty supply store and buying light hold hairspray. girl at register tells me that they now have a firmer hold spray and i have to awkwardly and unfortunately admit that it is actually for my husband. starting to see a pattern here aren't we?

rearranging our room not once, not twice, but three times in one weekend. thank heavens i have a husband who just sighs and rolls his eyes but still puts up with my crazy ideas. i think we finally found a winner.

one of my four year olds telling me that when he grows up he wants to be a "dishwasher fixer" just like his dad. it's ok, his dad is really a lawyer but i'm glad he does handiwork around the house too. another one of my four year olds announcing, "my dad is really really almost bald" another one, "my dad is almost bald too and he is sad." poor dads.

stopping by red mango by myself on satruday because i was famished and it was the only thing in sight next to arby's and i didn't think before noon was good for arby's food. it's ok i like to take lots of outings a alone. another pattern we are starting to see.

dancing again, even though i was teaching. i miss dancing. had the best time with a best friend teaching the darling hh officers dance. also, getting to catch up with three other best friends through out the weekend. made my entire week.

how was your love day?

ours was simple but so very lovely. no reservations, no hints, just the the two of us celebrating the way we like. we made dinner together again, i love this tradition. remember when i cut my finger open here while in the act? yes that was an expensive love day.

dinner was actually breakfast this year, made fancy schmancy thanks to me, husband made is famous pancakes, i delivered the heart shaped fruit and whipped cream, enjoyed my beautiful flowers from husband, i died when i saw them just like i told you i would, gave husband a surprise gift that he loved even though i promised i wouldn't buy anything, someone smeared whipped cream all over my face it was a good look, husband accidentally said happy birthday rather then happy valentines while being cute, i love when he gets flustered oh man i do, and enjoyed each others company before heading off to the lady a concert which was uhmaze. thanks husband a million and more for finally accepting and being my valentine.

Wednesday, February 1

do you ever?

breakfast: noun- a meal eaten in the morning, the first of the day.
oh but not in our home. we like breakfast for the last meal of the day. this is one of those really proud wife moments when my starving husband asks what is for dinner and i hold up a loaf of great harvest bread and state, while asking for approval, "french toast?" it was a long day at work. so we put on my favorite aprons and rocked out to adele in the kitchen while we cooked, ahem while jake cooked french toast. nothing better then nights like these.

if it were my way i may possibly request breakfast food for every meal of the day, this has nothing to do with the fact that it is simple, or the fact that husband usually cooks these nights, ok maybe it does but look at him he loves it. and it's d.e.licious. and when husband is the chef you know you can throw healthy out the window because you are most definitely going to get extra cinnamon sugar and extra extra syrup. the stuff that is really good for you. do you ever have breakfast for dinner?

Friday, December 2

wind storms and birthday boy

we've had an exciting past 36 hours around our home.

to start off we woke up at 3:45 am because of the loud wind and took a look outside.
our convo went something like this:

jake: is that bad?
me: i think so. what is that?
(i was really tired and i think i mean where did that come from)
jake: its a tree

so we woke up that morning to see this:

lovely.

and around the neighborhood this:

later that afternoon they clipped, yes clipped the power line...and walked away.
apparently it can't be fixed until today. great.
no power.

when i started to complain, this was jake's response
"it will be fun, you can blog about it" haha
so here i am making the most of our exciting night
with no power.

but to the important news...
it's husbands birthday today!
23.

this was really why i was frustrated with out power.
i needed to wrap presents, i couldn't make any food (no breakfast in bed), and we were sleeping on the floor, and our house was cold, cold like 54 degrees cold.

but it was a fun adventure.
we lit all our candles, laughed as we stumbled to find things in the dark, and munched on anything that didn't need prep or came from a fridge.

happy birthday jake!
i love you so much. i'm so so lucky to have you as my husband.

not much of a breakfast in bed...i did my best.

opening presents by the fire, the only warmth we had.
